On Tuesday, party-goers dressed in some of their finest Jazz Age threads murmured these magic words to gain entrance to The Great Gatsby Speakeasy at Residences at Coffee Creek. The event gave guests from the surrounding community a unique opportunity to tour the new facility, sample specially-made treats, and rub elbows with fellow attendees and Residences team members.
Natalie Reisen, Marketing Coordinator for Residences at Coffee Creek, said the occasion marked the first of many free social events her team was excited to host.
“Now that we are open, we will be offering one educational and one social event each month,” Reisen said. “We work with different topics and unique themes, and we always try to incorporate entertainment and excellent food. The social events are especially fun because they give our residents a chance to have some fun and allow the public to come in and enjoy our community. We have had outstanding feedback!”
Residents and guests mingled over mint juleps and smoked salmon canapes as musician Ivy Ford crooned into a microphone. Reisen said the Gatsby theme came to her when she took note of the one-of-a-kind refreshments their executive chef created, accompanied by the nostalgia the 1920s era evokes.
“The food offerings are so unique, and having signature cocktails, appetizers, and that distinct music genre sets the tone,” Reisen said. “I think that, especially with this population, it really resonates as something that’s fun and nostalgic.”
LaVerle Bohnstadt and her granddaughter Morgan Powell took a seat close to the piano. Both enjoyed plates of lemon poppyseed cakes. Their favorite part of the event?
“The food!” Bohnstadt laughed.
“The theme is really cool, too,” Powell added. “It’s a different way to get people together.”
The Residences at Coffee Creek team took breaks between tours to greet guests and refresh plates. For the company’s first social event, The Great Gatsby Speakeasy turned out to be a definite crowd pleaser, and the team took notice.
“We’ve had over a hundred people RSVP, and there have been at least a dozen people who have walked in,” Reisen said. “We’re so thrilled to be a part of Coffee Creek, and with the response we’ve had today. We want to keep the momentum going and spread the word that we’re going to host events like these each month.”
