Residences at Deer Creek is excited to announce that seven of their team members are now Certified Dementia Practitioners (CPD). Karen Ayersman, Executive Director, Loveta Lee, Director of Resident Services, Kathy Baker, Memory Support Manager, Melissa Huffman, Director of Sales & Marketing, Cynthia Horgash, Director of Life Enrichment, Robert Petty, Director of Plant Operations and Natalie Simaga, Director of Social Service have all successfully earned their certifications this month.
Residences at Deer Creek is committed to bettering and advancing Alzheimer’s and Dementia care in Northwest Indiana and has invested in its team members by providing this specialized and advanced dementia training and programming to make sure its residents and their families receive the very best that is available. These training standards go above and beyond the minimum state requirements regarding dementia education and practice.

The Certified Dementia Practitioner certification is the earned credential that recognizes that the highest standard in Alzheimer’s and Dementia education has been achieved. CDP’s complete extensive training in Alzheimer’s and dementia care. Key aspects of this training include communication techniques, disruptive behaviors intervention, tools for addressing wandering, aggressive behaviors, poor nutrition and sexuality. CDP’s work to enhance the use of new methods, theories and tools related to Alzheimer’s and Dementia care practices.
