Indiana-Dunes-Richard-RileyRichard Riley has been appointed to the Indiana Dunes Tourism Board of Directors.

Riley was appointed by Porter County Commissioner John Evans. Riley is the second new board member added for 2012, joining Scott Tuft, whose appointment by Valparaiso Mayor Jon Costas was announced earlier.

Riley, an attorney specializing in real estate zoning for telecommunications structures, is also owner of Riley’s Railhouse Bed & Breakfast in Chesterton. He and his wife, Ann, spend time in both Chesterton and Orland Park, Illinois. Riley has two children, Rebecca and Christopher, and two stepchildren, Angela and Lauren.

Lorelei Weimer, Indiana Dunes Tourism executive director, said the board of directors and tourism staff look forward to working with Riley.

This is an exciting time for tourism in Porter County because of the many new initiatives we have to grow tourism,” Weimer said.

Richard’s experience in the hospitality industry will be beneficial to our efforts to get visitors to extend their stay in our destination.

Riley has been appointed to a two-year term.

The nine-member Tourism Board helps to promote local tourism, which contributes more than $300 million to the local economy each year. Board members are appointed by the Porter County Commissioners, Porter County Council, Valparaiso and Portage mayors, and the towns of Burns Harbor, Chesterton, Porter, Hebron and Kouts.
