Mythbuster: Rittenhouse Senior Living has three locations in Northwest Indiana: Valparaiso, Michigan City and Portage (opening this fall) featuring independent and assisted living. Independent living starts at approximately $1,500 a month; $2,000 a month for assisted living and $3,000 if memory care is required. There are no entrance fees. "Our prices are all-inclusive, with meals, utilities, rent, etc.,"says Katie Csobaji, senior vice president of sales and marketing. "It's probably the same price as living in a house." At Bowes Creek, the active adult townhomes start in the low $200,000s the single-family homes in the mid-$200,000s. Monthly association dues are $210 for townhomes and $121 for single-family homes. That includes maintenance, snow removal, and a private active adult clubhouse with a pool, tennis courts and organized activities.
