Sacred Transformations channels beauty from experiences at Blackbird Cafe

Art comes in many forms and for many, creating it is therapeutic. A testament to that is the latest gallery on display at Blackbird Cafe, Libations Art Exhibition by Sacred Transformations.

The Libations Art Exhibition by Sacred Transformations is the latest display to be featured at Blackbird Cafe and will highlight themes related to the celebratory situations associated with drinking, along with the negative consequences of overconsumption of alcohol. Sacred Transformations upholds a mission of empowerment through self-awareness of behavioral patterns that are detrimental towards one’s wellness.

Eric Dean Spruth started the not-for-profit as a way to utilize his talents in art therapy in the form of tattooing to assist individuals from all walks of life. Art Therapy is used to transform a mark, scar, or tattoo into your unique and personalized work of art. The organization’s mission is to be a part of the healing process that transforms the unavoidable, painful reminders of the past into light, and motivational art that promotes growth and ultimate healing.

Tattoo therapy is an empowering method of physical and emotional healing designed for individuals. The Scared Transformations team meets with individuals one-on-one to fully comprehend an individual’s wants and goals for the artwork. Spruth chooses positive memories and, over time, transforms those negative thoughts into a motivating and positive work of art that can be tattooed over a scar, mark, burn or tattoo.

Valpo’s oldest cafe has featured the artwork of local artists for many years as a way to spotlight the Region’s most talented artistic individuals. Doing this allows artists to showcase their work in front of Blackbird’s customers. For instance, previous exhibitions include work by Jessica Corral and Josh Christian.

All of the artwork from the Libations Art Exhibition is currently on display at Blackbird and is available for purchase. Each piece is $33.40, and an adult coloring book about the effects of drinking will be available for $8.00.
