Saint Paul Catholic School Seeks Pumpkin Carvers and Arts & Craft Vendors For Oktoberfest

2013-OktoberfestCalling all artists, chefs, and talented amateur pumpkin carvers! Saint Paul Catholic School in Valparaiso will host a pumpkin carving contest during its Oktoberfest on Friday, October 11, 2013. The carving will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. during which time the carvers will transform the round orange gourds into works of art. The competition is open to adults only, but all ages are welcome to view the carving and take part in the event’s numerous festivities including Gnome Zone for kids featuring a petting zoo, bounce haus, 60-foot inflated obstacle course, a giant slide and traditional festival games; an authentic biergarten; traditional German foods; hayrides; music by Jay Fox and the Bavarian Showtime Band, and much more.

A panel of judges will select the best overall pumpkin and Oktoberfest guests will use coins and dollars to cast votes for the People’s Choice Award. Vote proceeds will provide art supplies for Saint Paul Catholic School. Individual carvers and teams of up to four people are encouraged to register to compete. A complete listing of the rules, registration form and sponsorship information are available at http://www.stpaulvalpo.org/oktoberfest.htm.

The inaugural Amazing Kyrbis Carve will really set the bar for years to come, and I can’t wait to see what amazing creations our carvers dream up! We have a limited number of carving stations, so I encourage anyone who is interested to register now,” shared Katrina Spence, Esquire, the Oktoberfest Pumpkin Carving Committee chair. “If you’re not a talented carver, you can support the event by sponsoring a carving station.”

In addition to seeking pumpkin carvers, organizers invite artisans and craft vendors to rent booth space. Booth information can be found at http://www.stpaulvalpo.org/oktoberfest.htm. Questions should be directed to Ms. Spence at 219.241.0089 or katrina@katrinaspencelaw.com.
