Samardzija Homers, Improves in Loss to Brewers

In his second start in his young major league career, Jeff Samardizja got his first hit- a solo home run in the sixth inning.

Samardzija improved from his first start, going five strong innings, giving up three earned runs off of five hits. He also had three strikeouts and one walk over 82 pitches.

Unfortunately, Samardzija took the loss, as the Cubs fell to the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2. The Cubs record currently stands at 78-33, with their “tragic number” (number of games until they are eliminated from playoff contention remains at 1.
