Whether mother nature wants it to be or not, the holiday season is finally upon us. Everyone is slowly getting into the holiday spirit, especially the community at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton.
Christmas was truly in the air as members and their extended families were welcomed to a great meal, horse-drawn carriage rides, live piano music, and, of course, the annual lighting of the Christmas tree. A celebration that dates back to the late 90s still brings happiness and joy to all of those who attend and makes Sand Creek feel like a winter wonderland.
“It's a great night for everyone to gather together and celebrate the holidays,” said Chuck Lukmann, club captain at Sand Creek. “This is a wonderful community, and events like these help bring people together. That's the whole idea of the club. Get people together for the friendships they have and the bonds they make.”
Even though many members have come and gone since its start, the tradition never fails to give the gift of holiday spirit. No matter how long a member has been there, everyone feels like they are part of the Sand Creek family.
“We have been members for about six months now and it's been great every day,” said Greg Miller, a Sand Creek club member. “It’s just like the song says, it's the most wonderful time of the year. It's great to see everyone start the holidays together. The staff deserve so much credit. They did a good job tonight.”
And all of the work that has gone into such a wonderful holiday party does not go unnoticed. The staff of Sand Creek had one goal in mind when planning - to make sure everyone smiled and had a great time. Despite the long hours it took to organize, they know it was worth the effort.
“It’s a full team effort,” said Angela Wronko, catering sales manager for Sand Creek. “It's a great tradition that we have here. We are family-oriented and want to help them start the holidays right. Anytime we can get everyone together as a community, it builds value.”
