Scouting Announces New Special Needs Day Camp July 29 to August 2

Life-Compass-CampLife Compass Camp is the name given to the newest camp program offered by Scouting. Designed for special needs children with Autism, Asperger’s, and ADHD, this one-week, full-day camp aims to provide girls and boys with an outdoor adventure surrounded by a structured, compassionate, small group environment. A distinctive characteristic of the program is the focus on building personal and social confidence tailored to the unique abilities and traits of campers. Campers will be encouraged to journal thoughts and ideas, learn about teamwork, social, and life skills and get the best of outdoor hiking, fishing, playing, and more.

Camp is open to girls and boys age 7 to 17 years old. Life Compass Camp will run from Monday July 29 through Friday August 2, 2013. Camp To- Pe-Ne-Bee, the local Boy Scout camp facility, will host the program and is conveniently located for residents of Porter and La Porte Counties, but open to all. Camp is also designed to provide a rest for caregivers who give their all to their amazing young one; however caregivers are always welcome to volunteer on staff.

Room is still available and registrations will be accepted through Friday, July 26, 2013.Think of a child you might know who would benefit from Life Compass Camp and send them to explore the web page for information and registration forms.
