Senior Day at the Porter County Fair – Wednesday, July 29

Pines Village Retirement Communities is sponsoring Senior Day at the Fair on Wednesday, July 29. All persons 65 and older will be admitted free to the fair that day and a full line up of activities and entertainment awaits those who visit the Buggy Wheel Pavilion.

Transportation from the main gate to the Buggy Wheel Pavillon will be available and Trolley will also tour the fairgrounds. Schedule for Senior Day at the Fair in the Buggy Wheel Pavilion: 9:30 a.m. Welcome 9:45 a.m. The Village People of Meridian Woods (music group) 10:15 a.m. Trilly Cole – Banjo Gal Trilly has entertained from one end of the country to the other, making her mark in Nashville for 15 years at Printers Alley's Captain's Table, setting a record for longest club act in Nashville. 11:00 a.m. Honor Seniors Awards 11:45 a.m. Music by Mike B Mike has been entertaining audiences around the world and was a member of the wildly popular 60’s band ‘Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone’. 12:30 p.m. VBS Kids Choir of Valpo Methodist Church 1:00 p.m. Bingo Visiting Nurse Association will be provided FREE Glucose Screening from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon.

The Honored Seniors presentation will recognize five senior citizens from local organizations who have been chosen by those groups to be acknowledged for their outstanding participation and contributions to that group or to the community. Recipients include:

  • Robert Mogan, Valparaiso Lions Club
  • Marcella Owens, Pines Village Retirement Communities
  • Annabell Thorpe, Hebron Senior Center
