Skate Again at Central Park in Valpo

Skate-Again-at-Central-Park-in-ValpoSummer Skates roll into Central Park Plaza this Monday as the Valpo Parks and the Valpo Family YMCA bring roller skating to the William E. Urschel Pavilion. "We had a great response with ice skating this winter," said Valpo Parks Director John Seibert. "We wanted to offer a similar experience this summer - with roller skating. We are glad to partner with the YMCA to take the popular Valpo Skates outdoors and bring it downtown."

Monday nights will become skate night in Valpo, June 20 - August 15, as the Pavilion is transformed into a roller rink with music and lights, from 4 p.m. - 10 p.m. "This venue and activity offers young people a safe and fun place to meet," said Dan McGuire, Director of Special Projects and Events for Valpo Parks. "It will hopefully appeal to the middle-school age kids who want to enjoy downtown with their friends during the summer break like they did during our ice skating season."

Although roller skating is open to families, the rental skates are limited to youth sizes. Skaters may wear their own in-line or traditional roller skates as long as they have soft rubber wheels. Skateboards are prohibited. Admission is $5 per person; roller skate rental for youth sizes is $3.
