Pie is good all year, but in the fall is when pie is most popular. Apple pie, pumpkin pie... and then then holidays come and all the stops are pulled out and it's a pie-palooza.
And we all know that most pies are better when made from scratch. Flaky crust made with real butter, fruit fillings or cream bases that are mixed by hand, "Just like my grandma's pies", topped with ice cream... oh yeah, pie is good.
Some of us aren't pie lovers. There are those that lean more toward pie's frosting-covered cousin, cake. But we aren't talking about cake right now, we're talking about pie; sweet, warm, comforting, I-want-to-take-a-nap-after-this pie.
And to make a good pie you need a good crust recipe and a lot of time. Sadly, not many of us have either those things. But that doesn't mean that we can't have a slice of triangular goodness. Just head over to Blackbird Cafe. They make all sorts of pies, and you can get it by the slice or they whole thing.
So go on in and get yourself a hot cup of coffee and a delicious piece of homemade pie. It's oh-so-good.
