The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority is planning a ceremony on July 7, 2012 during the South Shore Air Show for families of fallen soldiers from the war on terrorism.

The ceremony will be held in the event tent at 1:30 p.m., with a presentation of flags flown at Fort Bragg from the US Army Golden Knights. Families are invited to attend the entire Air Show on Saturday, and will be escorted to the ceremony.

We want to honor the fallen and their families for the sacrifice that was made for our country,” said Speros Batistatos, president and CEO of South Shore CVA.

Batistatos asked at a press conference Wednesday morning for help contacting some of the families to offer the invitation.

With privacy the way it is now, and some time that has passed since the loss of their loved ones, the families could have moved or changed their numbers. Getting in contact with them has proven to be a challenge,” said Batistatos.
