If individuals or groups would like to offer your volunteer services in the affected areas of southern Indiana you must first call the Volunteer Reception Center in Jeffersonville, Indiana. The phone number is (812)287-0519 or (812)287-0523. The center is opened 7 days a week from 9:00 am- 4:00 pm (ET). You must be willing to sign a release and obtain safety training at the United Way Volunteer Reception Center, 723 Spring St. in Jeffersonville, IN. Because of current safety hazards all volunteers must be 18 yrs. of age. May accept volunteers ages 16-17 with signed parental consent. Once you are registered you will be given a wrist band and dispatched from the VRC. Work boots and heavy work gloves are suggested.

Donations Warehouse is operated by Adventist Community Services, the disaster warehousing expert. Located at 700 Patrol Rd. in Charlestown, IN, they are asking for those wishing to donate items to first call (812) 287-0090 or (812) 287-0026 to let them know what you are bringing and when.

Specific Needs as of 3/5/12

  • Bottled Water
  • Non-perishable food items
  • Paper products
  • Household cleaning items
  • Heavy duty work gloves
  • Heavy duty trash bags
  • Personal hygiene items such as toilet paper, feminine hygiene items, toothbrushes & paste
  • Shampoo, soap, etc.
  • Cat food/dog food, kitty litter
