St. Mary’s Students Learn through “Hands On” Experiences

The 5th graders from St. Mary Catholic Community School in Crown Point, concluded their Age of Exploration Social Studies Unit by creating boats out of popsicle sticks and other materials.  The students learned how ships became an important part of travel during this period of history. They studied the different parts of the ship such as the stern, rudder, and the caravel.  “This was a very fun project,” said student Thomas Sedacki.
