Summer Camps at the Valparaiso Family YMCA

Summer Camps for five separate age groups are being offered this summer at the Valparaiso Family YMCA. ymca Camps run Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Campers must bring a sack lunch and drink daily. Registration in the Y Childcare Office is ongoing until spaces are filled. Call Diane Sonnenberg at 464-YKID (464-9543) for additional information.

Ages 3-5: Preschool Camp includes weekly themes with crafts, music, snack, socialization, swim lessons and gym time. An alternative monthly preschool is offered, with morning and afternoon sessions held on Tues. and Thurs. for three year olds and Mon., Wed., and Fri. for four to five year olds.

Grades K-1: Camp Little Bear, for children entering kindergarten and first grade in the fall, offers arts and crafts, sports, games, cooking projects, swimming, and weekly field trips.

Grades 3-6: Summer Adventure Days 1 (for those entering grades 2-3) and 2 (grades 3-6) will begin and end at the YMCA. Field trips include various parks, museums, movies, and more. Children are separated into two age groups in order to provide a developmentally appropriate structure.

Grades 7-9: Teen Adventure Days for students entering grades 7-9 help children learn leadership and self esteem. Field trips include museums, baseball games, movies, and more. This program enables campers to make new and lasting friendships within a fun and structured environment.

Summer School students: Children enrolled in summer school will enjoy a full afternoon of activities in the Summer School Explorers program. Activities include crafts, games, field trips, and swimming. Transportation is provided to the YMCA. Registration deadline is June 1.
