TCU Announces Two Promotions in Northwest Indiana

Teachers Credit Union (TCU), is pleased to announce the recent promotions of Janelle Correa to assistant branch manager of TCU’s Whiting Branch, and Monica Nevarez to assistant branch manager of TCU’s Hammond Branch.

Correa is a recent graduate of TCU’s Retail Management Training program, which she was a part of since June 2021. During her time in the program, Correa gained valuable experience working across various branches in Indiana, as well as with credit union-wide projects such as TCU’s Interactive Live Teller Machine (ITM) program. Correa graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership & Supervision.

Nevarez began her banking career in 2010, and she joined TCU as a teller in the Whiting branch in early 2019. In July 2019, she was promoted to a universal banker position in TCU’s Hammond branch. During the summer of 2021, she was selected to be a Financial Counselor for the Northwest District and became a TCU Certified Financial Specialist. With this distinction, Nevarez is able to help members re-establish and rebuild credit. Recently, she was promoted to assistant branch manager of the Hammond office where she oversees the daily operations, team member development, and community involvement, including representing TCU at the 2021 Latino Resource Fair at Irving Elementary School in Hammond. In Spring 2022, she was invited by State Representative, Earl Harris, to join the Latino Leaders of East Chicago, and attended her first meeting in May.
