A 2015 report from the U.S. Department of Education found the average worker with a bachelor's degree will earn approximately $1 million more than a worker without a postsecondary education.
That is why the TCU Foundation is honored to partner with the Indianapolis Center for Leadership Development at its 11th annual College Prep Conference and College Fair on Saturday, August 18 at the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis.
The Fair is an interactive, engaging learning experience designed to empower minority students in Grades 8-12 and their parents from throughout Indiana with the hope of them becoming more college ready.
The day-long college readiness conference is designed to bring families and the higher education community together to answer parents’ questions before students are applying for college. Last year 25 college and universities were represented at the Fair. Click here to watch a short video.
A Teachers Credit Union Foundation grant will assist with the cost of this year’s conference which includes several informative and relevant breakout sessions led by higher education leaders. This year’s keynote speaker is Federal Judge Tanya Pratt. Judge Pratt is the first African-American federal judge in Indiana history.
TCU will also have a presence and will promote the TCU Financial Empowerment Program powered by FoolProof. The program is free and web-driven and teaches consumers of all ages about money, financial responsibility and the realities of the free enterprise system.
The mission of the Center for Leadership Development is to foster the advancement of minority youth in Central Indiana as future professional, business and community leaders by providing experiences that encourage personal development and educational attainment. CLD was founded 41 years ago. Their board includes well respected business leaders from the Indianapolis area.
The TCU Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports South Bend, Ind.-based Teachers Credit Union’s vision of partnering with communities it serves to be a positive force and help them achieve financial success. The TCU Foundation mission is to promote financial literacy and empowerment, education and other opportunities and causes supported by the membership. The TCU Foundation has awarded nearly $3 million in educational grants, contributions and college scholarships since its inception in 1994.
