Tech Credit Union set to open new La Porte branch

Few financial institutions across Northwest Indiana can boast as deep a history in the Region as Tech Credit Union (Tech CU), which opened its first location at the U.S. Steel Plant in Gary back in 1936. Decades later, it serves members and their families in eight counties spread throughout Indiana and Illinois, as well as employees of businesses and organizations around the community.

Tech CU is set to open a new full-service branch in La Porte at 1101 Boyd Boulevard. It will give residents of the city and existing members of the credit union access to a full-range of banking and loan services, both for personal and business use.

“Our goal is to provide comprehensive services to ensure all of our members have financial success,” said Betsy Granko, marketing specialist at Tech CU. “We want to be there for you from when you open your very first checking account, through your very first loan, car, home, and beyond – through every stage of your life.”

As a non-profit, every member of Tech CU is also an owner from the moment they join. This means that the credit union can offer loans at lower interest rates, higher dividends on deposits, the latest in online and mobile banking, and financial solutions that are always in the member’s best interests.

“We are extremely excited for and proud of this new branch in La Porte,” Granko said. “It’s going to be full-service, with drive-up lanes, 24-ATM, and full-service lobby. It is also an outlet for the nationwide CO-OP Shared Branch network.”

Membership is open to anyone living or working in: Jasper, Lake, La Porte, Newton, Porter, and Starke counties in Indiana, along with Grundy and Will in Illinois, as well as employees of Tech CU’s corporate member groups and their family members.

Louise Ortiz leads the team at the new La Porte branch, and they are looking forward to opening their doors to the community. As with all Tech CU branches, this team is looking forward to being active in the community by taking part in local events, volunteering with local organizations, and sponsoring local initiatives.
