Born in Istanbul in to a navy officer and an elementary school teacher, Korkut Ozuyener lived 22 years in the largest navy base of Turkey (60 miles outside of Istanbul). He graduated from Yildiz Technical University (Istanbul) with a Mechanical Engineering degree in 1993 and served in Turkish Military as a 2nd Lieutenant between 1993 & 1995 in southeast region of Turkey (Iraq border) in a combat zone. After completing military service, he came to the USA and earned a Masters in education at Butler University.

Sadly, Korkut lost both parents in an earthquake in August 1999. His brother, who has joined him in America, wrote a book last February: "Hayat Kac Kere Baslar" (How many times a life would start?) about their family history (migration from Greece to Turkey in early 1920's), childhood, how he survived the earthquake, and his second life in the US.)

Korkut loves his 2 children, traveling, dancing, playing sports and sailing.
