The Moon Over Saint Paul

2nd-Grade-Moon-StarsWritten by Missy Hernandez

The second graders at St. Paul have been studying the sun, moon, and stars in science. The final chapter of their science book was all about the moon! They learned about the moon's surface, why the moon looks like it is moving, and the phases of the moon.

To wrap up the chapter, second grade had to create their own phases of the moon using Oreo cookies. Each student received eight Oreos and just like in the commercial, had to twist the cookie apart carefully. Then using the icing the students created the different phases of the moon. Each phase was placed in order and labeled on a paper plate.

After the learning was done the second graders enjoyed eating their "moons."
