The Munster Theatre Company Presents Its Spring Musical Production

How-to-Succeed-in-Business-1The Munster Theatre Company (the Performing Arts Department of Munster High School) is pleased to present the Classic Broadway musical, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING The Artistic Staff includes: Dr. Larry A Brechner, Producer/Director; William Woods Music/Orchestra Pit Director; and Carol Lynn Brechner, Assistant Director; Helena Janosek as Student Choreographer; and as Kendall Goldberg Student Director.

HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING is satire of big business and all it holds sacred, that follows the rise of J. Pierrepont Finch (Christian Fary), who uses a little handbook called "How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying" to climb the corporate ladder from lowly window washer to high-powered executive. He meets Rosemary (Megan Miller) who has her eye on Finch with matrimonial ambitions, aided by her close friend Smitty (Lisa Arndt). On his rise he encounters the boss, J.B. Biggley (Steven Caraher); his incompetent nephew, Bud (Michael Peters); Miss Jones (Morgan Papesh) Biggley’s competent secretary; Hedy LaRue (Alexa Johnson) Biggley’s bubbleheaded girlfriend; chairman of the board Wally Womper (Josh Roman); and many other characters played by Collen Kifer, Tim Witkamp, David Watts, Ben Nichols, and a cast of over fifty.

How-to-Succeed-in-Business-2HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING is has music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, and book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock, and Willie Gilbert, based on Shepherd Mead's 1952 book of the same name. It premiered on Broadway October 1961 starring Robert Morse (Finch) and Rudy Vallee (Biggley) winning seven Tony Awards and a Pulitzer Prize. The 1967 motion picture version appeared with many of the original cast members reprising their Broadway roles. Two Broadway revivals first starring Matthew Broderick and Megan Mullally in 1995, and a current Broadway revival beginning in 2011 starring Daniel Radcliffe (Finch) and John Larroquette(Biggley) , and continuing in January 2012 Nick Jonas (Finch) and Beau Bridges (Biggley). Two popular songs emerged from the show, “Brotherhood of Man” and “I Believe in You.”

HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING will run Thursday, May 3; Friday, May 4; Saturday, May 5 at 7pm, and Sunday, May 6 at 2pm in Munster Auditorium.
