The Northwest Indiana Business Roundtable Hosts Annual Golf Outing

Over 250 like-minded business men and women joined together for one of the largest golf outings in the region. The Northwest Indiana Business Roundtable hosted the outing at White Hawk Country Club complete with breakfast, lunch, cocktails, and a full-round of golf.

Christopher Kolella, NIPSCO Manager of Generation Standards, said, “This event is a great way to meet other business owners in the industry around your area. It offers a lot of input that you can utilize to bring into your own organization. It’s just a great group of people here. I’m hoping to meet several other employees from different areas so that I can use some of their resources to leverage with my own company.”

Following a pleasant breakfast, golfers teed off at nine. All 36 holes of the course were open during the outing to allow for a steady pace of play.

“The idea behind this event is to bring people together,” said Nick Dmitrovich, Diversified Marketing Strategies Spokesperson. “A lot of these people are owners or executives from construction companies including the bigger companies that would contract them such as NIPSCO.”

As an independent not-for-profit council, NWIBRT strives to ensure safety and quality in construction and maintenance in the area. Throughout the year, NWIBRT hosts seminars and presentations to act as an information service for all its members. The annual golf outing acts as a fun change of pace for many businesses.

BMWC Constructors Vice-President John Manta said, “We’ve been coming out here for many many years and it’s good networking and it’s also good to see people you haven’t seen in awhile.”

The outing offers both entertainment and company improvement with many of its participants creating business ties that last long after the eighteenth hole.

“What this really is fundamentally is just a fun day for people to get together and share ideas,” said Dmitrovich.

“We have had a couple of really neat things come to life just through conversations that some of our members have had, mostly relating to innovations in safety technology. For example, if one contractor has a new piece of gear that is pretty cool that other contractors can use, they tell each other about it. What we really are doing ultimately is facilitating networking between these companies.”

One the companies directly benefiting from events such as the golf outing is Graycor Industrial Constructors.

Vice-President Ted Vrehas said, “Today is a good networking event with fellow owners and businesses in Northwest Indiana. NWIBRT helps to keep us on the forefront of the leading ideas improving our businesses and maintaining our relationships with our owners.”
