The Prisoner Wine Company

The Prisoner Wine Company is wrapped in history and inspired by “garagiste” field blends from the Prohibition era, Dave Phinney crafted the first vintage of The Prisoner in the late 1990s. Through the years, The Prisoner Wine Company has sought out distinct vineyard sites capable of producing the beautiful, rich, ripe fruit and full mouthfeel that has become its hallmark.

The Prisoner Wine Company distinguishes itself from its peers by creating a distinct style of rich, bold, mouth-filling wines of exceptional quality. They take an unconventional approach to winemaking by working with impassioned growers to source varietals from vineyards and appellations across California-together they create wine blends that challenge expectations. The brand is unique, edgy, art inspired with labels that really stand out. They have created a passionate, cult-like following among consumers and influencers supported by outstanding critical acclaim. Consumers cannot get enough of these wines as demand greatly exceeds supply.

The wine consistently earns outstanding reviews from Wine Spectator and has appeared on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 list multiple times. The wine-making is directed by Chrissy Wittmann, who has her master’s degree in Agriculture. Wittmann is joined by winemaker, Niki Williams, who has a bachelor’s degree in Viticulture & Enology at the University of California. The Prisoner Wine Company has a Tasting Room that has a lounge-like atmosphere free of pomp and circumstance. It is located at 1178 Galleron Road, St Helena, CA 94574.
