Wouldn’t it be awesome to shed off unwanted body fat?
It’s that time of the year many of us have slipped from a new year’s resolution 11 months ago. It’s been challenging throughout the year with birthdays, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, upcoming Christmas parties, etc. Let’s not forget “ground hog” day… You know what I mean, right? Where this year seems just like last year, which was just like the previous year and so on.
So, how can you assure that this upcoming year will not be like other years? I’ll tell you as frankly as I can… “If you keep doing what you are doing, you are going to keep getting what you are getting”. Now is a great time of the year for self-reflection on exactly where you are in relation to your health and fitness goals. Now possibly, from reading the previous sentence, you are sitting in your seat thinking, “I don’t even have a set specific goal!” Hopefully you would agree that it wouldn’t hurt to clarify what it is that you desire since it’s impossible to get to a destination that isn’t established.
Your GPS isn’t going to start giving you directions until you decide upon and enter your desired destination. I too would have a hard time giving you step by step instructions until you tell me where you want to go. Once figured out (since I know the way to get there), I can tell you mile by mile exactly where to turn.
I imagine that ANYONE reading this could answer the question “How can someone lose excess weight?” Very simple! “Eat healthy and exercise”. Next, I want to acknowledge that while this is “simple”, it certainly isn’t “easy” otherwise this would not be SUCH a lingering issue for SO many people. Let’s go back to what was stated already… “if you keep doing what you are doing, you are going to keep getting what you are getting”.
While that’s true, we need to go deeper to what’s the precursor to our actions. That is our BELIEFS. If those are not changed then the “actions” taken on January 1st of joining a gym and stocking up vegetables is NOT going to last. If we ever want to take care of any problems in our life, we need to go deeper to the root cause and quit skimming over the surface. (Yes, even if it’s outside of our comfort zones)
Rather than wasting your time with diet tips you have seen for years, I am sharing this HUGE tip I feel strongly could be responsible for getting you moving in the direction you want to go. Ready…?
Don’t just settle for what I wrote about discovering WHAT it is you want, but rather WHY you want it. Albert Einstein stated “When a person is sufficiently motivated, discipline will take care of itself”. Find your “Deep Emotional Reason Why” for inspiration to get you started and keep you going.
