“Game changer.”
That was the first thought that came into my mind-- wow. I had previously tested out the Samsung Galaxy 7-inch tablet, but that was more than a year ago. This past week I was able to hold in my hands the Samsung Galaxy 10-inch tablet, and if you’re buying a gift for someone who loves technology, or even someone who doesn’t know the difference between a tablet, a netbook, or an e-reader, this would make an awesome gift for anyone.
I had the luxury of testing the 4G model, so I was able to access the internet virtually anywhere I traveled. For Thanksgiving, my wife and I drove all over Northwest Indiana and Northeastern Illinois (fix that: my wife was driving and I was “working”), and never once did I lose reception or was even slowed down. Google Maps? Worked great. Google Reader? NFL Mobile App? Let me follow the game as it was happening.
Mobility was just one of the great perks of this piece of equipment. I was able to enjoy football as I had never done before. The NFL app looks *beautiful* on the HD-screen, as does just about anything. My wife and I found a new hobby as well - we put our favorite interests into the StumbleUpon app and just breezed through some stunning photos on the web, came across some delicious-looking recipes, while stumbling upon several websites we had never have seen before.
As for the tech-stuff, I put this to the test, side by side with the iPad 2. Frankly, they’re very similar, with the Apple product coming in slightly bulkier and slightly heavier. The difference is not too noticeable though- they are very similar products that really vary on your preference between Apple’s operating system and the Android operating system. (Personally, I’m partial to the Android system because it seamlessly syncs with all of my personal apps through Google Docs, Google Calendar, Facebook, Twitter, etc.,).
My suggestion is to head to your local Verizon store and speak to one of their experts in mobile technology about the new Samsung Galaxy 10” tablet. Whether you go with the 4G version or the WiFi version, you or the person you’re buying for will be thrilled to have it.
