The-Second-City-logoThe Porter County Community Foundation will celebrate its 15th anniversary with a very special college tailgate FUNdraiser on November 12. The event will benefit the Porter County Community Foundation Scholarship Fund and feature a live performance by the Chicago-based comedy troupe The Second City.

We thought this would be a unique way to have fun with our anniversary and help the Foundation to grow the scholarship endowment,” said Barb Young, President of the Porter County Community Foundation. “We have awarded more than 200 scholarships since 1998 and the need keeps growing. There are so many more deserving Porter County students we would like to help.

The “Fab Fifteen” tailgate party will open at 6:30 p.m. on November 12 at the Porter County Expo Center. The theme of the evening is all collegiate, including the menu. Attire is casual and guests are invited to wear their favorite college colors. The Second City’s performance will kick off at 9 p.m. with the comedians creating a slice-of-life environment, lampooning all aspects of college life.

For almost 50 years, The Second City has been the training ground for a host of famous alumni including John Belushi, Mike Myers, Gilda Radner, Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, and countless stars of stage and screen. The legendary comedy theater company has resident stages in Chicago, Toronto, Detroit, and Las Vegas – entertaining more than a million guests each year. Its touring companies perform in theaters around the world - and now in Valparaiso for this very special engagement.
