The Valparaiso Noon Kiwanis Club Foundation sponsored its Eighth Annual Volunteer Recognition program on May 27. The Foundation presented plaques to all the nominated volunteers and a $500 donation to the Valparaiso High School Key Club. The program was initiated to celebrate and promote volunteerism within our community. Nominated volunteers are pictured (Left to right) Joyce Brown nominated by Opportunity Enterprises; Harry Lowenthal nominated by Rebuilding Together; Angela Fox nominated by the Sunrise Kiwanis Club; Lucie Whitlow nominated by the Porter County Museum and Historical Society; Myron Knauff nominated by the VHS Key Club, and Minakshi Ghuman nominated by the Porter County Community Foundation.
Kiwanis Foundation Presents Volunteer of the Year Program
The Valparaiso Noon Kiwanis Club Foundation presented plaques and recognition on May 27 to six worthy volunteers from various community service agencies. They were:
- Opportunity Enterprises: Joyce Brown.
- Porter County Community Foundation: Minakshi Ghuman
- Porter County Museum and Historical Society: Lucie Whitlow
- Rebuilding Together Valparaiso: Harry Lowenthal
- Sunrise Kiwanis: Angela Fox
- Valparaiso High School Key Club: Myron Knauff
The volunteer hours and work performed represented by this group of volunteers is incredible. Myron Knauff was named the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year for 2009. Club President, Paul Sciarra, presented Mr. Knauff with a $500 check for the VHS Key Club. Knauff/s volunteer work focuses on helping out at a variety of Key Club and other high school activities. He was named the official “Key Club Grandfather” by the Club members. This was the Eighth Annual Volunteer Recognition Program sponsored by the Kiwanis Club Foundation.
