“Moon Over Buffalo” is a backstage farce by Ken Ludwig, author of “Lend Me a Tenor.” It focuses on Charlotte and George Hay, an acting couple on tour in 1953 Buffalo. Their repertory consists of  “Cyrano de Bergerac - revised, one nostril version" and Noel Coward's “Private Lives.” Though disheartened to be performing in the “second-rate” city of Buffalo, hundreds of miles from Broadway, the thespians find themselves presented with one more shot at stardom when famed movie director Frank Capra decides to visit Buffalo to catch a matinee performance of their show.

Will Charlotte appear on stage or run off with their agent? Will George be sober enough to emote? Will Capra see “Cyrano,” “Private Lives,” or a disturbing mixture of the two? Hilarious misunderstandings pile atop madcap misadventures in this rousing comic gem.

The cast of “Moon Over Buffalo” includes: Tucker Curtis, of Chicago; Betsy Wojcinski, of Highland; Trish Eizenga, of Highland; Rachael Prendergast, of Schererville; Howard Martin Perez, Jr., of Hammond; Arielle Kresich, of Lowell; Steven Pedrosa, of Hammond; and Ed McCoy, of Portage. The stage manager for “Moon Over Buffalo” is Doug Aducci, of Portage.

Theatre Northwest is proud to present its opening performance of the 2009-10 season, “Moon Over Buffalo,” beginning Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. and continuing Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 18 at 2:30 p.m. Call the Theatre Northwest box office at (219) 980-6808 for reservations.
