Thomas Jefferson Middle School Mural: “Diversity and Strength as a Global Community”

Diversity-and-Strength-as-a-Global-CommunitySeveral Thomas Jefferson Middle School 8th grade students led by German teacher Kandel Baxter and Language Arts teacher Michelle Coberg created an artistic mural themed Connecting Countries & Cultures for a national mural contest through People to People. The Mural is titled "Diversity and Strength as a Global Community."

Students put more than 40 hours into designing and coloring this mural. The idea was 8th grader Cami Clark's brain child and the doll like drawings have outfits from different counties, with the map of that country in the face.

They will be submitting this to People to People's national headquarters in Kansas City, MO this week and murals will displayed in galleries throughout the greater Kansas City area of MO, and Kansas City, KS from December 2014 to May 2015. Selected murals will also travel around the world through the Global Youth Murals on Tour project. Winners will be notified in December 2014.
