Tina’s Fight Team

Tina Huffine has been fighting Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma since 2000. tinas-fightThese past two years have been critical for her, as she has gone through twelve chemo treatments and a stem cell transplant this past January, reaching a limit on the options available to fight her cancer, unless researchers can figure out more ways to prolong her life or find a cure. That’s why the fundraising TINA’S FIGHT team does for the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk is so important.

This year’s walk will take place September 19th at 5:00 pm. It will be held at the Lake County Fair Grounds in Crown Point.

There are several fundraisers that will be occurring soon. Saturday, May 8, is the Bowling Over Cancer fundraiser at Hobart Lanes from 7-10 pm. The cost is a $25 donation which includes 3 games of bowling and bowling shoes. All of the money collected goes to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society Light the Night Walk for TINA’s FIGHT team.

tinas-fightSaturday, June 12, through Sunday, June 13, is the Relay for Life of South Lake County at the Lake County Fairgrounds. If you would like to donate a Luminary Bag, an illuminated bag used to celebrate cancer fighters and remember those who have left too soon, contact Tina at vanosgirl@aol.com. They are $5 each.

This year, the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society has named Tina the 2010 Honored Hero. She will be doing speaking engagements and interviews for local newspapers. She feels it is an honor to have been chosen.
