Tips for Eye Health

Studies show consuming high levels of lutein and vitamin E in your diet can reduce your risk of developing macular degeneration or cataracts.

 

Good Sources of Lutein include:

  • Green Vegetables
  • Egg Yolks
  • Kiwi
  • Grapes
  • Orange Juice
  • Zucchini
  • Squash
  • Corn

Good Sources of Vitamin E include:

  • Eggs
  • Fortified Cereals
  • Meat
  • Nuts
  • Green, Leafy Vegetables
  • Poultry
  • Whole Grains
  • Vegetables
  • Wheat Germ Oil

The America Optometric Association (AOA) say you can help prevent eyestrain by properly positioning your computer monitor.  Depending on the size of your monitor and your vision, the screen should be positioned 16 to 30 inches from your eyes.  Many people find 20 to 26 inches is an ideal distance.  The top of the monitor should be slightly below eye level with the center of the monitor 10 to 20 degrees below your eyes.
