TJ 6th Grade Takes a Look at Medieval Times through Feudal Day

Feudal Day is a culmination of month long interdisciplinary study of the Middle Ages. The day showcases special presentations from a falconer, Sir Mark, and a few of his birds, along with a local knight, Sir Jon, with various pieces of his armor and weaponry.

The students role play throughout the day as representatives of the many medieval occupations they have studied. Castle Jefferson has pennants flying, coats of arms hanging, coronation, courtly pageantry from royal troubadours, poets, chroniclers, and jesters as well as merchants, local peasants, and serfs hawking their wares.

The finale to the day is a jousting tournament between the knights and squires of the homerooms. It is a fun day and makes for a very fond memory of middle school.
