In-person Tuesday Talks with Mayor Uran return after pandemic hiatus

One of Crown Point’s most popular and informative traditions, Tuesday Talks with Mayor David Uran, returned last week. The mayor moved the popular question and answer session online when the COVID-19 pandemic struck. Last Tuesday, with conditions starting to improve, he and the city gathered at Bulldog Park to host the first in-person meeting since February.

Valparaiso Events Summer Concert Series starts July 9 with the Crawpuppies

Teachers Credit Union is again giving back to the community by serving as the presenting sponsor of Valparaiso Events’ 2020 Summer Concert Series. Held on Thursday nights in July and August at the Porter Health Amphitheater in Central Park Plaza, the concerts are free — but ticketed due to coronavirus concerns — and will be streamed over the Internet.

Baseball, common goals align for Mike Schollenberger at Steindler Signs & Graphix

A chance encounter at Steindler Signs & Graphix turned into a new career opportunity for Mike Shollenberger. The LaCrosse resident and father of 11-year-old son Cooper, whose baseball team he coaches, visited the shop because owner Tom Steindler had donated some signage for the LaCrosse Tiger Baseball team.

Shollenberger is now the new sales representative for Steindler, a position he feels is a great fit considering his long-term sales career experience.

Six Strings Music Fest set to shine a light on Region guitar talent

The live music scene in the Region is teeming with talent, and one professional musician intends to shine a bright light on it this summer. Rocco Calipari, Jr., a professional musician, guitar player, and instructor, has organized Six Strings Music Fest to give his music students and a few top-touring acts a stage to showcase their mad skills while providing socially-distant entertainment for the community.
