Top 5 Community Videos on ValpoLife and PortageLife for 2011

Kiwanis Raking Day

At ValpoLife and PortageLife, we have so many videos laying around from all the good stuff we report on, we thought we'd bring a few back around for an encore. This time around, we have some of our best videos (but not all!) related to happenings in our local communities! We have lots of great videos about community development, charity groups serving their community, and community events.

The pianos have been rolled out once again this year, as downtown Valpo is swamped with ivory-tickling masters. We grabbed some well-known musicians in the area and asked them to play a song or two, so take a listen of some local talent in this great video!

Thanks to Carol Hazen, Daniel Pritchett, Sharon Costas, Esta Rosario, Matt Uribe and Daniel Doss for allowing us to hear their incredible talents!

Central Park Plaza Development

We talked with Bill Oeding and John Siebert about the progress of the park and how it all came together. Tina St. Aubin told us what to expect at the park, with live music, events and shows every weekend!

About $10,000 was raised for non-profit organizations in Portage and in Porter County at Mayor Velazquez's Annual Charity Ball. This year's theme was "Sweet Home Portage", and it resonated with the fact that the people in Portage wish to be like no other community, because we are proud to be Portage!

The second and final concert of Jano Concerts on the Square finished with a bang on Saturday, July 17, 2010 with the band, C4, performing along with free food samplings from some of Valpo's finest eateries such as Paparazzi, South Bend Chocolate Company, and many more! Attendants were asked to bring canned goods to benefit Cafe Manna and donations were accepted to help both Cafe Manna and the Valparaiso Parks Department.
