An evening of great trombone performance. This concert marks the debut of The Valparaiso Sinfonietta, Miguel E. Rosario-Vega, conductor, and a special performance by the VHS Trombone Choir. Presented in collaboration with the VHS Band Department it promises to be an evening of great music making.

Francisco J. Rosario-Vega, principal trombone of the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra, Spain, will be a guest residence artist with the Valparaiso Community Schools band program during the first three weeks of December. During his visit he will present master classes during the school day, solo with the VHS jazz bands, perform a recital in conjunction with the Concert Association of Valparaiso, and present a clinic at the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago. Selected students will perform along with Mr. Rosario-Vega at a concert in Valparaiso and also be featured at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago.

Mr. Rosario-Vega has been principal trombone of the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra since the spring of 1991. He has performed under some of the world’s most reknown conductors such as Sir Georg Solti, Yuri Temirkanov, Leonard Bernstein, Michael Tilson Thomas among others. He has been a recipient of the New York Philharmonic Music Assistance Fund and has presented clinics and master classes throughout Europe. He is a graduate of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where he earned a B.M. in Trombone performance and an Artist Diploma. He has presented recitals in the United States, Puerto Rico, Spain, Portugal, Dominican Republic and toured around the world with the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra. He is also a member of the jazz trombone quintet Bone-Idol.
