It’s always great to have an opportunity to meet and support local talent.
On the morning of February 22, Tudor Floors & More Carpet One hosted their first-ever pop-up market composed entirely of local artists and creators looking to showcase their work to the general public.
“The purpose of this event is to give back to the community in a fun and interactive way, and it’s exposure for both the vendors and us at Tudor Floors,” said Jenna Wong, Media and Marketing Assistant for Tudor Floors & More Carpet One. “I’ve been able to meet a lot of talented people and seeing them present their work today is nice.”
A mix of newcomers and veterans, every vendor present were local artists and creators selling an assortment of items ranging from jewelry, purses, pottery, and even homemade dog treats. There was no fee for vendors to have a booth at the event, and they kept all their profits as well.
“It’s nice to get out and showcase my art as well as talk and connect with the other vendors,” said Christian Fillippo, a local carpenter and artist. “It’s good to converse with visitors and see what they think about my work.” Fillippo pointed out some of his favorite pieces, which were equipped with an urban industrial, grunge aesthetic.
Tudor Floors & More Carpet One is a family-owned business that has been serving the community since 1969 with specialized flooring and other home floor amenities like carpets and floor tiles. Today was an opportunity for the store to work with local talent and really do something beneficial and entertaining.
“I thought it would be a great way to show my work to the community for the first time,” said Carmen Henderson, Owner of The Magnet Maiden. “An event like this is also a nice way to interact with the other local artists and artisans. I’m really excited to be here today to show off my custom-made magnets.”
Henderson said her personal favorite piece was the carrot cake magnet, which is actually scented like the real thing.
Overall, it was a wonderful day for the whole family to come out and meet some talented individuals within the community.
