Turkey Raised To Help Needy Families in Porter County

Salvation-Army-Turkey-Donation-2012The Salvation Army Porter County Corps Community Center was privileged to accept a turkey from Ruth(11) and Rachel (15) Stoner that was raised from a baby chick for 6 months to a full size turkey for the Porter County 4H Fair. Ruth and Rachel are students at the Morgan Township School in Porter County, Indiana. "Thanks to Rachel and Ruth for volunteering to continue the tradition of helping others by following Andrew Sharp's, the notorious "Turkey Boy", footsteps of service. God bless the Stoner and Sharp Families for their unfailing love for people in need." stated Major Jon Welch. "Laura Stoner shared about how 'the Sharp family helped in preparation of raising the turkey and then the girls took it from there'...!" The donated turkey will be served during the Thanksgiving Dinner at the Army.

Porter County residents are invited to enjoy a free Thanksgiving Day Dinner, Thursday, November 22nd at The Salvation Army Porter County Corps Community Center, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, 799 Capitol Rd. on Highway 6, one block west of Hwy 149, in South Haven, Indiana.
