Turtle Island Quartet Brings Jazz Fusion and Hendrix-Inspired String Performance to Valpo

Two-Time Grammy Award Winners, Turtle Island Quartet, will appear in Valparaiso on Sunday, November 6 at 4pm to dazzle multi- genre music fans as they fuse a vast array of musical styles and pay homage to legendary singer and songwriter Jimi Hendrix. This all string quartet is the final performance in the Fall Concert Series presented by Valparaiso Community Festivals & Events (VCFE) and held at Valparaiso University’s Chapel of Resurrection.

Turtle Island’s journey has taken them through an array of musical styles from folk to funk with a repertoire consisting of hundreds of ingenious arrangements and originals. They are credited with soundtracks for major motion pictures, TV and radio credits such as the Today Show, All Things Considered, Prairie Home Companion, and Morning Edition. They have been in feature articles in People and Newsweek magazines, and collaborations with famed artists such as clarinetist Paquito D’Rivera, vibraphonist Stefon Harris, guitar legends Leo Kottke and the Assad Brothers.
