Two La Porte officers promoted

Two City of La Porte police officers were promoted this week, according to Chief Paul Brettin.

Captain Joe Blake has been with the department for 15 years, and has served as a detective, field training officer and field training director. He is also a United States Air Force veteran. Blake will assume his duties as the afternoon shift commander.

Sergeant Brian Favia is 14-year veteran of the department. He has served as a detective and is the main firearms instructor for the City of La Porte police. He will assume the duties of afternoon shift Sergeant.

“Captain Blake and Sergeant Favia are two incredible members of our team,” Brettin said. “Their nearly 30 combined years of experience makes them an invaluable asset to the department, and we are thrilled to watch them as they continue to lead the team and set an example for our younger officers.”

Brettin said the department is currently accepting applications for sworn officers. Applicants must be between the ages of 21 and 40 and must provide a copy of their birth certificate. Brettin said those with questions can reach the police department at 219-362-9446.
