United Steelworkers Sponsor OE Marathon Team

United-Steelworkers-Sponsor-OE-Marathon-TeamSeveral Local Unions of the United Steelworkers District 7 have donated $10,000 to Opportunity Enterprises to become one of the lead sponsors of the Opportunity Enterprises Chicago Marathon Team. Local Unions #1066, 6103, 1014, 5133, 6787, 9777, 1010, 7-1, and the National Pharmacists Association all contributed to the $10,000 sponsorship.

The United Steelworkers join sponsors Urschel Laboratories and North Coast Distributing, who have been lead sponsors of the team for several years.

"Our organization, the USW, finds it important that the community at large understands that we are on a constant march for ALL working families,” shares Bill McCall, USW Coordinator. “This partnership with OE is an opportunity to show that the USW supports other great organizations and not just dues paying members. I'm very thankful that the District 7 Director Jim Robinson helped pave the way for this partnership.”

As a retired union steel worker myself, I am extremely happy to have facilitated this partnership,” says Dave Collins, Corporate Relations Liaison at Opportunity Enterprises. “Sponsorships like these allow businesses and organizations to effectively leverage their marketing dollars while enhancing their philanthropic profile within the community.”

Team sponsorships are still available at a variety of levels. For more information, contact Dave Collins at (219) 464-9621, ext. 208, or david.collins@oppent.org.

The OE Marathon Team is the largest annual fundraiser for Opportunity Enterprises, and is in its thirteenth year. Since its first team in 1999, over 3,000 runners have raised more than $1.5 million for Opportunity Enterprises. To find out more about the OE Marathon Team, visit www.oerunners.org.
