United Way of Porter County Americorps Program Now Recruiting Members for 2015-16 Year

unitedway portercountyAmeriCorps is an opportunity to get things done in Northwest Indiana while making a big difference in your life and in the lives of those around you. It is a chance to apply your skills and ideals toward helping others and meeting critical needs in Lake, Porter and LaPorte Counties. As an AmeriCorps member, you will gain new skills and experiences including recruiting/managing volunteers, tutoring K-12 youth and providing career advice to high school students. You will also find the tremendous satisfaction that comes from helping others.

Full-time AmeriCorps members receive a stipend up to $12,000, healthcare, childcare assistance and an education award of $5,760. Part-time AmeriCorps members receive a stipend up to $6,050 and an education award of $2,865. The education award is earned after successful completion of the program and can be used to pay for current/future educational expenses or to pay back qualified student loan debt. AmeriCorps members with qualifying student loans are eligible for student loan deferment during their term of service.
