Urgent Care vs Emergency rooms—which is your best bet?

Urgent Care vs Emergency rooms—which is your best bet?

Hurt or sick? Your first thought might be to take a visit to the ER. However, there is a more efficient and timely option –visiting an urgent care.

Midwest Express Clinic prides itself on providing courteous family medical care from experienced staff, committed to serving you and your healthcare needs. The clinic understands that illness treatment doesn’t adhere to traditional business hours.

Wait minutes, not hours, at one of the multiple Midwest Express locations open seven days a week, from 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. with no appointment necessary.

Midwest Express Clinic offers you a convenient alternative to an ER visit or a doctor’s appointment for your illness or injury.

“A lot of times, people with non-emergency needs turn to an emergency room first for things like minor injuries or illnesses. Sometimes, it can take several hours to be seen, whereas when you walk through our doors at Midwest Express, you’re typically registered, checked-in, and seen by a provider within an hour,” said Kate Cunningham, Operations Manager for Midwest Express Clinic.

Midwest Express offers a wide variety of services ranging anywhere from flu shots and stitches to treating rashes and illnesses. The clinic also offers lab and testing services in order to decipher the next steps and if the injury or illness needs further treatment.

Online, patients can set up an appointment, submit insurance information, and get pre-registered before they even walk in the door. This easy-to-use process can be found here, and only further expedites the speedy process at Midwest Express. Walk-ins are also welcome at the clinic.

“Our clients have peace of mind knowing that when they come in, they will be seen within the hour,” Cunningham said. “They feel secure in our timely, effective, and affordable care, and that truly is what keeps them coming back.”

Midwest Express Clinic urgent care offers low self-pay rates for procedures and services. Just ask the receptionist for details when you check-in.

“We really try to cater to everyone. We accept Medicare and Medicaid, and even for those who don’t have a provider with us, the cost is still hundreds of dollars less than an ER visit would be,” Cunningham said.

Cunningham also noted the change in healthcare within the past few years.

“The way that healthcare is leaning, a lot of times people don’t have a primary care physician that they reach out to. Now, people will go somewhere they know they’re going to be seen and that has an easy appointment and walk-in process.”

And, of course, the ideal healthcare process is done in a timely manner.

“When you’re sick, we know you don’t want to wait around for several hours in a public place, let alone in a waiting room. We also know that you don’t want to wait a couple of days or even a few weeks to be fit in for an appointment. We want to provide our patients with quality care and get them in and out as quickly as possible so they can focus on getting better,” Cunningham said.
