Due to the dangerously cold temperatures over the past couple of days and the projected cold temperatures, strong winds and snow still forecasted for this afternoon and evening the Valparaiso Police has activated their Senior Care Program.
This morning the Valparaiso Police Department has begun contacting participants of the program to confirm their heat is working properly and any other needs are being addressed.
The program is activated when the temperature falls below five degrees for consecutive days. The Senior Care Program is designed to assist seniors that do not have local family, friends or other caregivers to check on them during harsh weather conditions.
