Valparaiso University senior forward Alec Peters (Washington, Ill./Washington) brought home the top award as the Horizon League announced its postseason honors on Wednesday, as Peters was named the league’s Player of the Year in voting by the league’s coaches, sports information directors and media members. Senior Shane Hammink (Millingen aan de Rijn, Netherlands/Oakley College [LSU]) was named to the All-League Second Team, while junior Tevonn Walker (Montreal, Quebec/Vanier College) earned a spot on the league’s All-Defensive Team.

Franklin, Lindfors Earn Horizon League Postseason Awards
The impressive resumes of two Valparaiso University women’s basketball players continued to expand on Tuesday afternoon as the Horizon League released its annual postseason awards.

Junior Dani Franklin (Cedar Rapids, Iowa / George Washington) captured all-league second-team honors, while sophomore Amber Lindfors (Elk Grove Village, Ill. / Elk Grove) latched down a place on the all-defensive team.

The Valparaiso University tennis programs swept the weekly Horizon League doubles awards, as the league office announced on Tuesday that Valpo tandems captured Doubles Team of the Week honors for both men’s and women’s.

The top Crusader women’s doubles pair of Kathleen Hebble (Sellersburg, Ind. / Silver Creek) and Paige Heuer (Munster, Ind. / Munster) repeated as Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week after earning the same distinction a week ago. Before last week, the Crusaders hadn’t achieved a weekly award on the women’s side since February 2015, but now they’ve earned one back-to-back weeks.
