The Valparaiso Family YMCA announced Methodist Hospital as its new Healthcare Engagement Partner at a press conference held today at the Valparaiso Family YMCA.

The growth of the Valparaiso Family YMCA led the Board of Directors to identify and select a healthcare provider that would not only embrace the YMCA's mission, but also understand the tremendous possibilities a collaborative partnership would hold for members and the community.

“We are excited for this collaboration with Methodist Hospitals,” offered YMCA VP Chief Development Officer Debra Koeppen. “We're excited not only for the Y, but for the community as a whole, and we hope that everyone is as excited about it as we are, going forward into the new year.”

After a lengthy and thorough review of multiple proposals by numerous healthcare providers, Methodist Hospitals was selected as the Y's Healthcare Engagement Partner. “We are proud to have been selected as the Valparaiso Family YMCA's healthcare partner. From the beginning of this process, we felt that the cultures, missions, and priorities of our two organizations were a great fit. We are tremendously excited to move forward with the programs and services that we feel will make a significant contribution to working together for a better future,” said Ian McFadden, President & CEO of Methodist Hospitals.

This was quite an involved process with presentations from several area hospitals to a talented group of volunteers representing the Y. In the end, Methodist Hospitals was the best fit with the most comprehensive offering to provide a depth of services to the community. Their team has an 'attitude about customer service that is consistent throughout their staff and volunteers, which is a great fit for the Y. We look forward to a nurturing, growing relationship over the next several years,” said Bob Wanek, Valparaiso Family YMCA CEO.

We feel really, really good about the opportunity to grow that and to build on the excellent foundation that the Y has put into place.”

This exciting collaboration will bring wellness and comprehensive programs to the community designed to maintain a high level of well-being and healthy living through proper diet, exercise, stress management and illness prevention. Some additional highlights include screenings, risk assessments, classes and rehabilitation services, physical therapy, alternative medicine, and physician offices.
