Valparaiso High School Announces 2022 Athletics Hall of Fame Class

Valparaiso High School Athletics announced the 2022 class of inductees into the Athletics Hall of Fame. 

The Valparaiso High School Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 1989 to honor those men and women who have brought positive recognition to the school throughout their contributions in athletics. 

This year’s inductees include: 

● Bob Barthold - Tennis, Basketball Coach 

● Jason Cook ‘02 - Wrestling 

● Lorie Cook - Gymnastics Coach 

● Scott Drew ‘89 - Tennis 

● The Handlon Brothers (Mike ‘99 - Tennis, Baseball; Matt ‘02 - Football, Basketball, Baseball; Tim ‘06 - Football, Baseball) 

● Robbie Hummel ‘07 - Basketball 

● Sam Rasmussen - Athletic Director, Coach 

● Jeff Samardzija ‘03 - Football, Baseball 

“We’re excited to honor this truly phenomenal class of inductees,” Valparaiso High School Athletic Director Stacy Adams said. “Our Hall of Fame induction weekend will be a great opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of these Vikings as well as the rich tradition of excellence of VHS Athletics.” 

These 8 inductees join 94 Valparaiso High School Athletics Hall of Fame members. They’ll be honored at halftime of the VHS vs LaPorte football game at Viking Field on Friday, September 2 as well as at a HOF Ceremony on Saturday at Valparaiso High School.
