Sectionals were held on the Chesterton course at SunSet Hill Farm Tuesday Oct. 12. at 5:15pm. It is a PR (personal record) course and a favorite of some of the runners. It was a beautiful day for a race, sunny and 70's. Valpo did very well placing second over all.
The Varsity team consisted of the top 7 runners. Making the top 7 were Junior Ahmad Aljobeh, Senior Michael Bobos, Sophomore Peyton Reed, Freshman Ari Coulopoulos, Senior Colin Stiscak, Sophomore Patrick Dalton and Sophomore Zachary Schwartz.
The top 5 teams from Sectionals advance to the New Prairie Regionals. The top 5 schools were:
- 1st Laporte 45 pts.
- 2nd Valparaiso 56 pts
- 3rd Chesterton 73 pts
- 4th New Prairie 82 pts
- 5th Portage 106.
Other Schools that participated were Wheeler 172 pts., Michigan City 188pts., and Washington Township 255 pts.
The top 15 runners advance to Regionals. In the top 15 from Valpo were; Ahmad Aljobeh 2nd with a time of 16:02, Michael Bobos 8th, Ari Coulopoulos 9th and Peyton Reed 14th.
Great Job Valpo!!! Next Meet will be the New Prairie Regionals held at New prairie High School 5333 N. Cougar Rd., New Carlisle, IN on Saturday Oct. 16, 2010. races start at 10:30 am. Get there early and cheer for Valparaiso High School Boys Cross Country. (remember NO DOGS on this course so keep the pooches at home, thanks)
