Valparaiso High School Boys’ Tennis Captures Regional Title

The Valparaiso High School boys' varsity tennis team advanced further in the Indiana State Tournament with a 3-2 win over Penn High School in the Portage Regional Tournament Championship on Wednesday.

The Vikings swept the Kingsmen in singles action, with Ben Kalisch (6-3, 6-0), Marty Pochop (6-2, 6-3) and Eric Cender (6-2, 6-1) all picking up victories. The doubles teams of Jared Folke/Peter Williams (0-6, 0-6) and Domi Szabo/Pall Baggett (2-6, 5-7) both fell to their Penn opponents.

The 16-2 Vikings will travel to the Center Grove Semi-State tournament on Saturday morning, where they will play against the winner of Warsaw and Culver Academy who face off on Thursday in the Culver Academy Regional final.
