Valparaiso High School guidelines for athletics

Our athletes and coaches have been working hard to ensure a safe and successful fall sports season.  We would like to share the new guidelines we have put in place to protect our athletes, students, staff and spectators. These guidelines were designed using guidance from health officials, the IHSAA, and in accordance with Governor Holcomb’s Back on Track Indiana plan.

  • Masks are required at all times at every athletic event unless you are eating or drinking.
  • Physical distance must be maintained in the stands and while in line at the sporting venue gates, concessions and restrooms. Please return to your original seat as soon as possible after visiting the concession stand or restroom.
  • Modifications have been made to spectator seating areas to promote physical distancing.

We will have limited seating for the following home events, football, soccer, tennis, and volleyball. Only ticket holders will be granted entry into these sporting events. Once allocated tickets are sold out, we will not allow additional entries into the sporting venue.

Tickets will be available at the gate for home soccer, tennis, volleyball, and freshman & JV football. Tickets are not required for cross country and golf spectators.

Tickets will be pre-sold for all home Varsity football games. Tickets may be purchased in the VHS athletic office at Door 10 from 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Tickets will be available first to the families of the football team, cheer team, and Vikettes beginning the Monday before each home game. Tickets will be available to students and staff beginning on Tuesday before each home game. Tickets will be available to the general public on Wednesday and Thursday before each home game. Remaining tickets will be available for purchase at the gate on Fridays for home games.

Spectators must remain seated at home football games. Standing at the fence line or gathering behind the stadium will not be permitted.  All middle school and elementary students must be accompanied by an adult and remain seated with that adult throughout the game.

Gathering on the field/court or in the parking lot will not be permitted at the end of each athletic event.

We hope that you understand that these precautions are being implemented in order to protect the athletes, coaches and spectators. Please remember, you can do your part to ensure a safe fall sports season by staying home if you are ill, wearing a mask, maintaining physical distance, and washing/sanitizing your hands frequently.

We'd like to thank you in advance for your cooperation.
